John D. Rockerduck, usually simply referred to as Rockerduck, is one of Scrooge McDuck's main business rivals. His name is a play on that of John D. Rockefeller, the American capitalist and philanthropist. Although the character was originally an American creation whom creator Carl Barks only used once, Rockerduck became very notable in the foreign market, particularly in stories produced in Italy.
Perhaps due to the character's relative obscurity outside of Italy, Rockerduck did not make any appearances on the original DuckTales series. However, he would eventually appear in the series' revival comics over two decades later.
Appearances[]
- "Rightful Owners"
- "Dangerous Currency" (cameo)
- "Dawn of the Day of the Return of the Living Spud (Part 2)" (silhouetted cameo)
Notes[]
- Despite Rockerduck not appearing on the DuckTales show itself, his habit of eating his hat when defeated by Scrooge is referenced in "Wrongway in Ronguay", in which Flintheart Glomgold has to do this after losing the bet he made with Scrooge.
